Roger Waters

Who he is: Roger Waters is an English rock musician, singer-songwriter and composer, widely known for his work with Pink Floyd as bassist, co-lead vocalist, lyricist and principal songwriter. He has also spent decades using concerts, interviews and social media to argue about war, human rights and political power.

Campaign editorial note: Roger Waters has not endorsed Robert Motta or Vote Motta 2028. This page does not claim an endorsement. Featuring a creator also does not mean the campaign endorses every statement or political position that creator has made.
What the caption establishes

Separate the post from the interpretation.

The caption itself establishes three things: Waters says he made the video the previous Wednesday, says it was requested by fellow artists in Germany, and says he believes it represents “the voice of reason.” The caption alone does not describe every factual or political claim made in the video.

Contemporary reporting that embedded this same post discussed it in the context of Waters’ advocacy concerning Israel/Palestine and criticism of political leaders’ positions. The campaign should therefore label the video as creator commentary / political advocacy, link the original, and fact-check specific claims separately rather than treating the entire video as a verified factual record.

Why spotlight creators

Creators can surface arguments voters may not hear elsewhere.

The purpose of the Creator Spotlight series is to show voters the original creator, the original post, source context, reactions and the campaign’s own clearly labeled analysis. A spotlight is an invitation to examine an argument—not a substitute for evidence.
