The “Super Mayor” Story

Tiffany A. Henyard · former mayor of Dolton, Illinois

Former mayor of Dolton (2021–2025) and former Thornton Township supervisor (2022–2025). She lost Dolton’s 2025 Democratic mayoral primary, later moved to Fulton County, Georgia, qualified as a Republican for County Commission District 5, survived a residency challenge, won the May 2026 Republican primary unopposed, and is expected to face Democratic nominee Helen Willis in the November 2026 general election.

Legal-status rule: Major outlets continue to describe a federal investigation concerning spending during her Dolton tenure. The sources reviewed for this package do not establish that Henyard herself has been federally charged. Former Dolton officials Lewis Lacey and Keith Freeman faced separate federal fraud cases; their cases must not be presented as convictions of Henyard.
Include her response: Henyard has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. In an ABC7 interview after the final report, she said she was being blamed for others’ actions and said finance directors/accountants handled day-to-day money operations.

Three evidence lanes

Documented audit/review findings

Lightfoot/CRA’s noncriminal review documented large card spending, travel, weak oversight, missing receipts, financial-reporting problems and a severe general-fund decline.

Investigations / lawsuits / allegations

Federal subpoenas and civil suits are important records, but an investigation or complaint is not a conviction. The 2026 Fifth Third suit contains allegations that remain litigation claims unless adjudicated.

Creator / news commentary

Nate the Lawyer and “Shark Tank”-style videos are commentary. Their titles, jokes and opinions are not substituted for court records or audit findings.

What the public record actually quantifies

Do not add these rows into one grand “waste” total. Some figures overlap; some are balances, liabilities, pending allegations or money that remained unspent. The ledger labels what each number actually represents.
